Luminary Locator Review Policy

This policy covers reviews of nail professionals on the Luminary Locator. It explains who can leave a review, how reviews are checked and shown, and how a professional’s star rating is calculated. It does not cover reviews of Luminary products on our store or in the Shop app.

Our relationship with the professionals listed

Luminary Nail Systems makes and sells professional nail products. Professionals listed on the Locator use our products, and many buy from us. We also have other relationships with some of them. For example, some teach classes for Luminary as Luminary Educators, some carry badges based on training or purchases (such as Luminary Certified or Pro-Cure), and some have Premium listings, which appear before other listings in search results.

None of this affects how reviews are handled. We do not approve, decline, order or rank reviews based on whether a professional buys from us, teaches for us, holds a badge or has a Premium listing.

Professionals listed on the Locator are independent businesses. A review, badge or listing is not our endorsement of any professional’s work, safety, hygiene, licensing, prices or conduct.

Who can leave a review

You need a Locator client account and must be signed in. You can leave one review per professional. Your review must be about your own experience with that professional, in your own words.

Please don’t leave a review if:

• you are the professional, or you work for or with them (for example, staff, a booth renter or a business partner);
• you are a family member or close friend of the professional;
• you were paid, given a free or discounted service, or offered anything else in exchange for the review, other than through a Luminary program described below; or
• you work for Luminary Nail Systems.

Reviews must not be written by AI tools, bots or anyone other than the person who had the experience.

What a review includes

A star rating from 1 to 5 and a written review. Your first name and last initial are shown with your review, along with the date.

Rewards for reviews

Luminary does not currently offer rewards for Locator reviews. Professionals listed on the Locator agree not to offer clients anything in exchange for a review, and not to ask for reviews only from clients they expect to be happy.

If Luminary ever offers a reward for Locator reviews, such as loyalty points, a discount or a prize-draw entry:

• the same reward will be offered whether a review is positive or negative, and it will never depend on the rating or what the review says;
• invitations will not be limited to clients we expect to be positive;
• each review connected to a reward will be clearly labeled as incentivized, with what was offered; and
• the program’s details will be posted on this page before it starts.

How we check reviews

Reviews are checked by our team before they appear. We publish reviews that meet this policy, whether they are positive or negative, and we hold every review to the same standard regardless of its star rating. We do not edit reviews. A review is published as written or not published.

We may decline or remove a review that:

• isn’t about the writer’s own experience with this professional;
• isn’t about the professional’s services;
• contains threats, harassment, hate speech, obscenity, or false and damaging statements of fact;
• attacks anyone based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability or national origin;
• includes someone’s private information, such as a phone number, address or health details;
• we have reason to believe is false or misleading, such as a review of a visit that didn’t happen;
• was written by the professional, someone connected to them, a competitor, someone rewarded for it outside a labeled Luminary program, or a bot or AI tool; or
• advertises or promotes another business or product.

We never decline or remove a review because it is negative, because its rating is low, or because the professional disagrees with it. Reviews that are not published show as “Not published” in the writer’s account.

How reviews are shown

All published reviews for a professional are shown on their listing, newest first. We don’t feature, pin or hide reviews based on their rating. A professional may post a public reply to a review. Replies appear under the review and are marked as coming from the professional.

How the star rating is calculated

A professional’s star rating is the average of the star ratings of all of their published reviews, rounded to one decimal place. The number of published reviews is shown with it. Reviews that are pending or not published are not counted. Premium status, badges and purchases from Luminary have no effect on the rating.

Reporting a review

If you believe a published review breaks this policy, for example because it is fake or written by someone connected to the professional, email info@luminarynailsystems.com with a link to the listing and a short explanation. Professionals can report reviews the same way. We look into reports, and we remove reviews that break this policy. A review is not removed only because the professional disagrees with it.

Changing or removing your review

Reviews can’t be edited after they are submitted. To remove a review you wrote, email info@luminarynailsystems.com from the email address on your account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
